Yunglifa’s Bamboo processing facilities are located in Mangshi city in the Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture of the Yunnan Province, China.
Thanks to favorable climate and fertile soil, the local Dai and Jingpo rely mainly on agricultural and forestry resources for income generation. Dehong is home to some of the largest Bamboo species globally and local population has a very emotional connection to their Bamboo. Traditionally using it as food, building material, for furniture, baskets and much more, Bamboo is an integral part of the local livelihood.
In order to benefit from the local Bamboo resources, the Province of Yunnan ordered the Dehong prefecture to increase its indigenous Bamboo resources and develop Bamboo processing industries as economic development goal in order to increase the income possibilities for local farmers.
To support entrepreneurial activities in farmer communities Yunglifa is cooperating with provincial and local Government to finance and setting up outposts that collect and pre-process Bamboo for Yunglifa. These hubs are owned and operated by village cooperatives and local entrepreneurial groups.
